Heidi Slacum

Heidi joins the design team with a background in fashion buying, merchandising and management. She uses her creativity, keen eye for editing and quality customer service to assist her clients in finding a unique sense of style for their home. Using her passion for fashion and working with people, she helps select furnishings and decor to fit her clients' needs.

 

 

Susie Shockley, ASID

Designer Route 50

 

Susie began her career at Casual Designs in the 1990’s. With a degree in elementary Education her college courses of study included: art, photography, Communication Design, and management. Her background is what makes her able to cultivate her clients’ ideas into unique spaces for their homes, investment and commercial properties.  

When Susie transitioned fields from the showroom to the classroom; she married, raised her children, traveled, experienced life; all the while dabbling in the design world through art, photography and remodeling projects. This made for an easy transition back to her design position at Casual Designs.  

The love of her work, prowess of furniture & design combined with her passion for working with others; are what makes Susie able to turn properties into dream spaces one room at a time. What was once anyone’s becomes a unique one of a kind dream home for each client

 

Mari Schmidt

Designer Route 54

Mari is originally from the Washington DC area, but is no stranger to the MD and DE beaches. Growing up, Mari spent her summers here enjoying the beach life. She joins the Casual Designs family with extensive experience in design, sales, and marketing. Having worked nationally with professional sports teams and entertainment business' she has designed apparel, home interiors, and even private clubs. No matter what your style may be casual, chic, coastal, or traditional let Mari help you create your own personal look for your happy place!

 

Karen Hammond

Designer Route 54

Karen joined the Casual Designs team in 2017. Her background in design includes running her own small business in Wilmington, Delaware, designing rooms, decor and window treatments for her clients. She also paints custom furnishings and has had her work displayed and for sale in many stores and galleries. Two boys and all of their activities kept Karen busy on top of her artistic and professional responsibilities. In her free time, Karen loves boating, cooking, reading and spending her days on the beach. Her unique perspective will help you make your home bright, current and creative.

 

 

Mary Schellhardt

Chrissy Haley

Designer Route 50

After owning a successful Staging Business in Siesta Key, Florida, Chrissy moved back to the Eastern Shore with 4 of her 5 children to be closer to family. Chrissy has an ecletcic sense of style with her favorite design styles being Contemporary Coastal and Transitional Antique. In her off time Chrissy likes to spend time with her family, and her zoo of animals (really, its like a zoo, ask her about it). Chrissy can be found in the Route 50 Store - Saturday through Wednesday, but accepts appointments on days she is not in the showoom.

 

 

Lynn McGinnis

Designer Route 50

Lynn McGinnis started in design by owning and operating her own gift and floral business. She enjoys the challenge of coordinating ideas, colors and style to fit the personality and needs of her clientele. Her experience at Casual Designs includes model homes designed for Centex Homes at The Parke, Glen Riddle and Seaside Village, Marina Village and Tucker Homes at Butler's Village and Morgan's Purchase. She has also decorated numerous private homes and

condos throughout the Eastern Shore.

 

 

Dianne Desmond

Designer Route 54

After a succesful 30 year career as a Realtor and Home Loan consultant, selling and financing new and extisting homes, Dianne decided to change her focus to sales and design of the interior of homes in 2011. She worked at a large furniture store on the eastern shore and retired in 2017. After 5 months she decided to go back to her passion of designing interiors and joined Casual Designs. She loves assisting customers and making their home a unique reflection of their lifestyle.
